What Not to do.
If you are a new blogger like me, you will know that we all experience a different set of difficulties. Some of us have light bulb moments, some of us new breakthroughs, and some are just getting to know the feeling of having a blog. So here are some basic crash course tips of what NOT to do if you are a new blogger.
1. Don't Quit your day job, however ambitious you may be! A common misconception is that people think that just because they are writing, people will automatically show up on your blog and start subscribing. There are ways to earn money on blogger, but don't quit your job until that money becomes consistent
2. Don't force your writing. Be who you are, not who people want you to be. Sure, you may want to write about trends to get people to look at your blog, but you definitely don't want to overdo it. Forcing yourself to write about things you really don't like will make your writing a turn off to the readers. It gives a bad vibe overall, and that's not what you want.
3. Don't, Don't, Don't Fall into Plagiarism! Lying about whether or not something is your own idea is probably the worst thing you could do! It can get you into real legal trouble and it's guaranteed someone will find you out. If you want to use someone Else's writing or pictures, make sure you link back to them, at least at the end of your posts.
4. Don't make grammatical errors. I am not the best speller in the world, believe me. I didn't learn to spell raspberry until last year, but that is why everyone loves spell check!! Just make sure you have all words spelled correctly, and most people will be fine. Also, try to stay away from those tiny little letters. Squinting gives us all crows lines around our eyes.

5. Finally, don't add the following things to your blog:
-That dreadful auto-music. If your blog is all about metal music and only a metal fan would click on it, go ahead; but let me say, if I open a blog and it starts to play the Black Eyed Peas, the only thing I want to do is click away from that awful site.
-Comment Verification. No one likes those obscured pictures of letters that don't even form a word. No one.
-Posts in posts. Post-ception, as some would call it. If one post you're writing has something to do with a previous post, don't re-post the whole thing in your new post. If it needs something more than a reference and a link back to it, either put in one picture (even that's iffy.) or just don't reference it at all.
Most of all, just enjoy what you do. Blogging is a fun way to relax and almost journal about things you love, so just have a ball and enjoy it.
xoxo,
Mags
